Bardzo cieszy mnie powrót Davida do formy. Obawiałem się, że już nigdy nie zaprezentuje dyspozycji podobnej do tej z drugiej części sezonu 2007, ale chyba Hiszpan wraca do gry. Było już w tym roku kilka obiecujących występów, a finał w Barcelonie zdaje się potwierdzać dobrą tendencję. Mam nadzieję, że Hiszpan dobrze zaprezentuje się dalszych turniejach, na pewno będzie zależało mu na występach w Madrycie i oczywiście w Paryżu. To jeden z moich ulubieńców i IMHO jeden z najbardziej niedocenianych zawodników w ATP.

Q. Can you answer in English about Soderling? You met him a couple times. How do you feel about meeting him now?
DAVID FERRER: Okay. It will be a very difficult match, no? I think Soderling serve really well and he play very fast. I need to be very focus all the time, no, and serve with a good percentage.
Q. Wimbledon has been your least successful Grand Slam. How are you finding the grass these days? Is it getting better? Easier for you?
DAVID FERRER: It's difficult for me. With my game, it's not easy. But I think now that the players who can play in the baseline, who can receive, and that is important, no?
I think now all the tennis players play in the baseline, no? It's more slowly, the court, the balls, I think so.

Jest to 2 skalp Ferrera w tym roku (1 - Acapulco). David odzyskał tytuł w Walencji (miejscu swojego zamieszkania) po roku przerwy. :)
Wspaniały zawodnik. Mam dużo szacunku do niego za pracę, jaką wkłada w trening i zaangażowanie, którym imponuje na korcie. Do tego wydaje się być bardzo sympatycznym i zrównoważonym człowiekiem. Po trochę słabszym okresie znowu gra świetny sezon. Dzisiejszy sukces przybliża go do Londynu, co mnie osobiście cieszy. ;)
Bardzo trafnie to ująłeś i również gratuluje mu tak prestiżowej wygranej wywalczonej u siebie w Walencji. :)
Muszę przyznać ze po tym kończącym się sezonie, nabrałem do niego dużej sympatii, choć wcześniej nie za specjalnie
miałem o nim dobre zdanie. Widziałem sporo meczy Dawida w tym sezonie i z pełną odpowiedzialnością przyznaje ze to jeden z najbardziej ambitnych i pracowitych zawodników w tourze jakich znam.
Może nie ma talentu Nadala i tej przebojowości i lansu co Verdasco, to jednak krok po kroku systematyczną ciężką pracą umie zbudować formę która pozwalała mu na wygrywanie turniejów i bycie w czołówce.
Także udowodnił po raz kolejny ze jest zawodnikiem wszechstronnym.Dobrze radzi sobie nie tylko na mące ale także na nawierzchniach twardych, obojętnie czy to jest hard czy hala.Mam nadzieje ze uda mu się zakwalifikować do Masters bo jednak wolę zobaczyć walecznego Ferrera niż chociażby bezbarwnego Berdycha, który zupełnie jest bez formy i nic specjalnie z sobą nie prezentuję.
Wybaczcie ze tyle lukru o Ferrerze, ale czasami warto pochwalić zawodnika o którym raczej mało kto na co dzień pozytywnie piszę, choć czasami na to zasługuje swoją postawą na korcie :P

Ferrer jest mało komentowanym zawodnikiem, ponieważ jest mocno jednowymiarowy. Ale raczej nikt nie zaprzeczy, że jest bardzo ambitny i wytrwały. Dodatkowo sprawia wrażenie sympatycznego człowieka. Lubię go, ale nie jestem w stanie oglądać przez dłuższy czas jego spotkań, co się przekłada od razu na ilość postów z nim związanych.
No więc właśnie, nie mam nic przeciwko temu, że Feru jest szaleni ambitnym graczem i biega do niemal każdej piłki, sprawiając przy tym wrażenie walczącego o życie. Tylko co z tego, skoro trudno uznać jego spotkania za widowiskowe, chyba, że jedynym kryterium wymagającym spełnienia jest "zwracanie" wszystkiego na drugą stronę, okraszone kilkoma Vamosami.
Dla mnie zawodnik nie do oglądania na szybkich nawierzchniach.
Walencja: szczęśliwy Ferrer
David Ferrer po raz drugi w karierze wygrał turniej w Walencji i bardzo przybliżył się do udział w turnieju ATP World Tour Finals. W finale pokonał swojego rodaka Marcela Granollersa 7:5, 6:3.
Po raz pierwszy od dziesięciu lat w finale turnieju ATP Toru rozgrywanego w hali na twardej nawierzchni spotkało się dwóch hiszpańskich tenisistów. Dużą niespodzianką była obecność w tym gronie „lucky losera” Marcela Granollersa, który w turniejowej drabince zastąpił kontuzjowanego Jo-Wilfrieda Tsongę. Pochodzący z Barcelony tenisista w drodze do finału eliminował jednak samych nierozstawionych rywali, a David Ferrer okazał się zaporą nie do przejścia.
W pierwszym secie Ferrer serwował już przy stanie 5:3, ale szansę na skończenie pierwszej partii zaprzepaścił. W dwunastym gemie Granollers po raz drugi jednak stracił swoje podanie. W drugim secie obaj tenisiści mieli po jednym break pointcie, a szansę wykorzystał tylko David Ferrer.
28-letni Hiszpan dzięki sukcesowi w Walencji awansuje w rankingu sumującym tegoroczne występy na siódme miejsce i ma bardzo duże szanse na występ w kończącym sezon turnieju w Londynie.
- To jest najszczęśliwszy dzień w moim życiu. Ciężko znaleźć słowa. VALENCIA CHAMPION FERRER SETS SIGHTS ON LONDON
David Ferrer scored a huge win in his bid to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals Sunday, capturing his hometown title at the Valencia Open 500 with a 7-5, 6-3 win over fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers.
Victory at the ATP World Tour 500 indoor hard-court tennis tournament gives Ferrer 200 points to add to his year-to-date total, which will see him leapfrog Basel semi-finalist Andy Roddick into seventh place in the year-to-date ATP Rankings going into the final tournament of the regular season at the BNP Paribas Masters. There are three places remaining in the elite eight-man field at the prestigious event, to be held 21-28 November at The O2 in London.
The 28-year-old Ferrer won his second ATP World Tour title from five finals this year, having also triumphed on clay in Acapulco (d. Ferrero) and finished runner-up in Buenos Aires (l. to Ferrero), Rome (l. to Nadal) and Beijing (l. to Djokovic). It was the ninth ATP World Tour title of Ferrer’s career, and his first at an indoor hard-court tournament.
“This is one of the happiest days of my life. It's hard to find the words. It's very special and I'm very happy to win at home,” said a delighted Ferrer. “It's also very special for me as I have a good chance for London now as well. Even though I am not yet mathematically qualified, it gives me a lot of confidence.”
In the first all-Spanish indoor final on the ATP World Tour for 10 years, Ferrer squandered a chance to serve for the first set at 5-3, but made amends as he broke the Granollers serve again in the 12th game to seal a one-set lead. Ferrer then converted his only break point chance of the second set in the second game and went on to claim victory in one hour and 49 minutes.
“It was a very tough match today,” reflected Ferrer. “I returned very well, got one break in the second set. There were a lot of great rallies and tough points.”
The Valencia resident also captured his local title in 2008 (d. Almagro), when it was a spring clay-court event, and finished runner-up in 2005 (l. to Andreev). He has a 17-4 event record.

David Ferrer, one of two Spaniards in the eight-man field, comes into his second appearance at the season finale in a rich vein of form, having reached the Beijing final and triumphed in Valencia in recent weeks. The 28 year old will open his campaign in a rematch of the 2007 final against World No. 2 Federer.
“I feel good; in good physical shape and with great motivation to play in the days to come,” said Ferrer. “It will be a very difficult match [against Federer]; I’ve never beaten him. So I will try to do my best but it is not easy to play the first match against Federer.”
The Valencia native first qualified for the season finale in 2007 in Shanghai, and feels this year it has been his consistency that has rewarded him with a second chance to compete with the world’s top eight-ranked players at The O2.
“I’ve improved my mentality and my serve [since reaching the year-end championships in 2007],” said Ferrer, who has compiled a 60-21 match record this season. “Every year is different, but 2007 I played very good, I did the best tournament of my career in Shanghai. Maybe this year I have played more consistently throughout the season.”

Recreational players try in vain to play like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Justine Henin—their heroes—but maybe they should take a page from Ferrer's game. Ferrer Wins Battle Of Davids, Clinches 10th Title
David Ferrer won the Auckland
title for the second time.
World No. 7 David Ferrer won his 10th ATP World Tour title on the eve of the Australian Open as he halted David Nalbandian’s hot streak in Auckland with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Argentine in the final of the Heineken Open on Saturday.
Four years ago at the ATP World Tour 250 tennis tournament in Auckland, the 28-year-old Ferrer won his first ATP World Tour hard-court title with victory over Tommy Robredo.
“It’s very special,” declared Ferrer. “When I won here [in 2007] it was my first hard court title and to win it for a second time four years later is special because it’s more difficult now with the pressure and expectation. I like a lot to play the second week of the season here; I like the tournament a lot, the people support me a lot.
“Of course I am with confidence after winning a tournament; the next tournament I will go in with confidence in my game and my mentality,” added the Spaniard, who faces Jarkko Nieminen in the first round of the Australian Open.
The top seeded Ferrer was strong on serve throughout the week, holding 93 per cent of his service games in the lead up to the final, and he continued that trend against Nalbandian, saving all three break points he faced. In overturning a three-match losing streak against the Argentine, Ferrer broke serve three times from five opportunities and wrapped up victory in 68 minutes.
“I think David did not have a good day,” admitted Ferrer. “He played a little bit badly in the second set. Maybe it was the key in the first set at 3-3 when I went a break up and won the set. He lost concentration. I thought I played very consistently and I did my job.”
Nalbandian added, “He played better than me. I had some chances in the beginning of the first set, but couldn’t take them. Sometimes I missed easy shots and I tried risks that didn’t work.
As champion, Ferrer received 250 South African Airways 2011 ATP Ranking points and $72,600. He improved to a 10-10 record in ATP World Tour finals, having added to his two triumphs at Acapulco and Valencia in 2010.
World No. 27 Nalbandian had not dropped a set on an impressive run through to the final, which included the dismissal of second seed Nicolas Almagro in the semi-finals. The 29-year-old Argentine, who was bidding for his 12th ATP World Tour title, will face Lleyton Hewitt in a blockbuster first round at the Australian Open.
“I think it was a very good week,” reflected Nalbandian. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you play good and lose, sometimes you play bad and win. Sport is like that. Today I lost. I will try to play better every day.”

Q. Can you sum up the match, how it went for you, playing against Milos.
DAVID FERRER: I think was very tough match. Milos I think is unbelievable player. He serve really good. And maybe was the key in the second set in the third set was the key, no? He had a lot of chance, he doesn't make. When I won the third set, it was more easy, no? He was more tired in the fourth set. I can broke him two times and I can won.
But I play very, very consistent all the match, no? When I lost the first set, I did one mistake. It was unbelievable, no, that one mistake can lost the set. He plays really good.
Q. Can you compare his serve to any other players you played?
DAVID FERRER: Is similar like Karlovic or Isner. Is similar like this.
Q. Were you surprised that he stayed in a lot of long rallies with you?
DAVID FERRER: Not surprised because I saw him the last year, he did very good results. I know about him. It was not surprise for me.
Q. Did you know, because of Galo, the fact he's been in Spain, have you watched him play there?
DAVID FERRER: Yeah, no, I know about Raonic, about Galo the last year. He works in Valencia this year, I think so. I know about that. I have a good relation.

Q. Sometimes it's very hard to play someone who is injured. Talk about how you maintained your focus. Did you change your plan at all?
DAVID FERRER: No, I didn't change my plan, no. I was just focused in my game because I was playing a good game. So I played the same tactic as like the first game in the end.
Q. When you came on court before he got injured, were you planning on changing your game at all?
DAVID FERRER: No. Always with Rafa I need to play very aggressive, no, because he's a very good player. He defends unbelievable. For to beat him, just I need to play very aggressive and maybe I lucky like today.

Q. This will be your second Grand Slam semifinal. It will Murray's fifth. Is that experience important?
DAVID FERRER: No, because I am playing a lot of years to the Grand Slams and to the ATP, no? Of course, he has more experience than me. But now in this moment, I am 28 years. I am playing a lot of matches. I want to enjoy this moment, no?

Q. You played 84 matches last year, which was the most on tour. Do you ever get tired?
DAVID FERRER: In the last year I played a lot of matches, of course. But it's very important for me, no? My game is very physic. I need to play a lot of matches for my confidence.
Now I am in a good moment of my physic. I am not tired, because I stop two weeks to enjoy my holidays. So I am in perfect condition.
Q. Rafa obviously was trying to win his fourth Grand Slam in a row. Is there part of you that feels very sad or disappointed for him?
DAVID FERRER: No. I think he can to win the next four Grand Slams, no? Rafael is the best three players of the history of tennis. He is a young player. He will can do it.

DAVID FERRER: The last one, we had a really good game, no? Maybe I had my chance in the last games of the fourth set. But he serve good. I cannot to do nothing.

Q. This run you've had here, has it proven to you that you can match it with these guys on the big stage time and time?

Mały ciałem, ale wielki duchem - te słowa idealnie opisują Davida Ferrera. 29-letni mieszkaniec Walencji, w cieniu rodaków, najpierw Juana Carlosa Ferrero, następnie Tommy’ego Robredo i obecnie Rafaela Nadala, swoją grą ciągle pokazuje waleczne serce, stopniowo wspinając się w światowym rankingu.
Urodzony w Jávei zawodnik w tenisa zaczął grać w wieku ośmiu lat, tocząc spotkania z ojcem i starszym bratem, juniorskim mistrzem Hiszpanii do lat 13, a obecnie trenerem tenisa. Swoją zawodową karierę rozpoczął w 2000 roku. Jeden ze swoich pierwszych tytułów rangi challenger wygrał rok później w Sopocie, w finale pokonując Łukasza Kubota. Od tego czasu wygrał aż 11 turniejów rangi ATP World Tour (wcześniej ATP Tour). Na uwagę zasługuje, że jako specjalista od gry na kortach ziemnych, zwyciężył również na trawie: w 2008 roku w ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Początki kariery Ferrera nie należały do najprzyjemniejszych. Już jako nastolatek musiał zmienić miejsce swojego zamieszkania, najpierw osiedlając się w Gandii, a następnie w Barcelonie. Aby zmobilizować go do ciężkich treningów, jego trener zamykał go na długie godziny w małej, ciemnej szafie, dając mu tylko kawałek chleba i butelkę wody. Wierny fan Valencii i jednocześnie kibic Barcelony, przyznał, że spędził dużo czasu, odbywając tę karę. Zniechęcony, w wieku 17 lat zrezygnował z tenisa i rozpoczął pracę jako murarz. Bez rakiety wytrzymał jednak tylko tydzień. Szybko poprosił o możliwość powrotu do klubu. Już wtedy współpracował ze swoim obecnym szkoleniowcem, Javierem Pilesem.
Swoją najwyższą w karierze, czwartą pozycję w rankingu zanotował na początku 2008 roku. Był to skutek bardzo dobrej gry w końcówce roku 2007, kiedy osiągnął półfinał US Open, wygrał w Tokio i doszedł do finału kończącego sezon turnieju Masters w Szanghaju.
Po trochę słabszych występach, po raz kolejny do czołowej dziesiątki powrócił w poprzednim sezonie, aby ponownie walczyć z najlepszymi tenisistami na świecie. Na mączce postraszył niezniszczalnego na tej nawierzchni Rafaela Nadala, aby następnie rozbić go w ćwierćfinale Australian Open. Dwukrotnie zwyciężył Robina Söderlinga, pokonał również Berdycha i objawienie sezonu 2011, Raonicia.
Prywatnie spokojny, lubiany nie tylko przez kolegów z tenisowego świata, ma wciąż przyjaciół w Jávei. Każdą wolną chwilę spędza na oglądaniu piłki nożnej i koszykówki oraz czytaniu i kolekcjonowaniu książek. Nie bierze udziału w skandalach, natomiast chętnie udziela się charytatywnie, pomagając chorym i potrzebującym. Na korcie zmienia się o 180 stopni. Zawsze bojowo nastawiony, walczący o zwycięstwo do ostatniej piłki, zostawiający na polu gry całe swoje serce.
W jednym z ostatnich turniejów udowodnił jednak, że można wyprowadzić go z równowagi. Kiedy dochodzący z trybun płacz dziecka zdekoncentrował Hiszpana, pokazał swój temperament, posyłając w tamtym kierunku piłkę. Na szczęście maluchowi nic się nie stało.
To właśnie zawziętość jest najbardziej charakterystyczną cechą Davida. Nie posiada on szczególnie groźnych broni w porównaniu do innych znakomitych zawodników, jednak to jego konsekwencja i determinacja pokazują, że tenis jest sportem niezwykłym, nagradzającym za wiarę i walkę. Dzięki zwinności i umiejętności utrzymania piłki w grze wygrał już nie jeden mecz. Najczęściej punkty kończy odwrotnym forhendem, potrafi otworzyć sobie również kort bardzo dobrym odbiorem serwisu. To właśnie to zagranie uważane jest przez trenera Darena Cahilla i Rogera Federera za najlepszy return na świecie.
Skazany na rolę "drugiego Hiszpana w cieniu Nadala", Ferrer już niejednokrotnie udowodnił swoje ogromne serce. Zazwyczaj niedoceniany, nie przejmuje się zachwytami tylko nad swoim młodszym, ale dużo bardziej utytułowanym rodakiem. Ferru kontynuuje serię znakomitych wyników. Po finale w Monte Carlo, tym razem dotarł do meczu o tytuł w Barcelonie. W decydującym pojedynku, podobnie jak tydzień wcześniej, musiał uznać wyższość Rafaela Nadala. Był to 12 przegrany finał Ferru, na 23 rozegrane tego typu mecze, 3 w Barcelonie.
