Dosyć duża niespodzianka w eliminacjach Brisbane. Marco Crugnola wyeliminował Brydana Kleina 3/6 6/4 6/3. Lepiej sprawiła się inna nadzieja gospodarzy. Grający z dziką kartą Greg Jones pokonał bowiem doświadczonego Niemca Simona Greula. W następnej rundzie zagrają też  m.in. Stefan Koubek, Dimitrij Tursunow i Peter Polansky, który  miał spore problemy z  finalistą juniorskiego Wimbledonu 2010 Benjamina Mitchella ( 6/1 6/7 6/3).

Tylko jedna niespodzianka jak dotąd podczas kwalifikacji w Chennai- rozstawiony z trójką Conor Niland pokonany przez  dobrego futuresowca, Vishnu Vardhana.

Haha, widziałem, ale nawet zbytnio sobie tym głowy nie zaprzątnąłem, bo nie wydawało mi się to żadne osiągnięcie. Jednak jak teraz sobie przypomnę, to rzeczywiście jest wystawiany na lekkie kpiny od jakiegoś czasu.

Cilic kicks off season aiming for Chennai three-peat



The 2011 ATP season is soon to be underway, and the Aircel Chennai Open helps kick off the action. No. 2 seed Marin Cilic hopes to emerge from a second-half slump in 2010 to capture his third consecutive Chennai title.

Two-time defending champion Marin Cilic headlines this year's Aircel Chennai Open along with Tomas Berdych, Stanislas Wawrinka, and Richard Gasquet. The four top seeds are aiming to start their 2011 campaigns in fine form as they gear up for the Australian Open, which is a mere two weeks away.

Cilic beat India's top-ranked singles player, Somdev Devvarman, in the 2009 final before getting the best of Wawrinka in the 2010 title match. The 6'6'' Croat faces a tricky opener this time around against Kei Nishikori. It will be an intriguing rematch of a second-round thriller at last season's U.S. Open, where Nishikori prevailed in five sets after four hours and 59 minutes of play.

Cilic and familiar foe Janko Tipsarevic are both in the bottom quarter of the draw. They have faced each other two straight years in Chennai, with Cilic prevailing in the 2009 quarterfinals and the 2010 semis. Overall, Cilic is 5-0 lifetime against Tipsarevic. The Serb opens with Eduardo Schawnk and could have the crowd against him in a potential second-round clash against Indian wild card Yuki Bhambri.

India has two other hopefuls in the field; Devvarman and wild card Rohan Bopanna. Devvarman and Bopanna are on a collision course for the second round, but Bopanna--a doubles specialist--would have to upset Wawrinka in round one. If Wawrinka makes his way to the quarters, he is in line for a meeting with eighth-seeded Robin Haase.

Berdych, the No. 1 seed, has a good chance of avoiding the fate of last year's Chennai top seed Robin Soderling, who lost his opener to Robby Ginepri. Berdych begins against clay-courter Frederico Gil and should have little trouble before a possible quarterfinal match against No. 5 seed Jeremy Chardy.

W Dausze Fyrstemberg gra razem z Hanescu ale ze względu na dłuższą przerwę Matkowkiego. Ci panowie z tego co się orientuje rozstawać się nie zamierzają.
I jak to zwykle bywa w pierwszym tygodniu w grze podwójnej zobaczymy również Nadala i Roddicka

NADAL, FEDERER LAUNCH 2011 ATP WORLD TOUR SEASON


Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will compete at the
Qatar ExxonMobil Open in the first week of the season.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer kicked off the 2011 ATP World Tour season in Doha today by hitting tennis balls on a court laid in the water of Doha Bay. The world’s top-ranked players are the top seeds at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, which begins tomorrow. Other ATP World Tour 250 tournaments in the first week of the season are at the Brisbane International, in Australia, where play is already underway, and at the Aircel Chennai Open, in India.

“It was a fantastic experience,” said World No. 1 Nadal. “For the past three years we have done a few different things, and this one was a very nice experience. It’s going to be a very exciting season for me, I think. I would love to play against Roger a few more times this year, because when we play each other it’s in the final.”

Federer added, “It was good fun. It was so different. You’re always excited and nervous to see how it will turn out. It is always nice promoting an event and an entire tour with Rafa. I am of course very excited about playing another season on tour. I’m playing some of my best tennis again. I am really enjoying it and have high goals for this year.”

Having shared the year-end World No. 1 and No. 2 South African Airways ATP Ranking spots since 2004, Nadal and Federer will again be the players to beat during the 2011 ATP World Tour season, which comprises 63 tournaments in 32 countries. The season leads to the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, 20-27 November, to be held at The O2 arena in London for the third consecutive year.

Nadal and Federer have won 21 of the past 23 Grand Slam singles titles and contested a memorable 2010 final at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, which Federer won in three sets to claim his fifth year-end crown. Later this month in Melbourne, Nadal will attempt to become the first player since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four Grand Slam trophies at the one time, while Federer will look to add to his record haul of 16 major titles.  In 2010 Nadal won Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open, where he completed a career Grand Slam, en route to finishing year-end No. 1 for the second time. Federer, whose strong finish to 2010 included a fifth title at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, will be the defending champion in Melbourne.

But Nadal and Federer will have plenty of competition throughout the season as World No. 3 Novak Djokovic, World No. 4 Andy Murray and World No. 5 Robin Soderling continue to turn up the heat. And plenty of interest surrounds the return from injury of 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro, and the performances of stars like Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer, Andy Roddick, Fernando Verdasco, Mikhail Youzhny, Jurgen Melzer, Gael Monfils and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

In doubles, world record holders Bob and Mike Bryan will look to build on their 2010 haul of 11 titles, while intrigue surrounds the reunion in Australia of the Indian Express, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes, as the duo looks to complete a career Grand Slam at the Australian Open.

Sydney, Australia (starting 9 January) and Auckland, New Zealand (10 January) will be played in the lead-up to the Australian Open (17 January).

Soderling, Roddick headline field in Brisbane



Defending champion Andy Roddick will join top seed Robin Soderling as the ATP World Tour kicks off the 2011 season at the Brisbane International in Australia. The American is set to enter the draw as the second seed.

World No. 5 Robin Soderling heads to Brisbane for the first week of January, armed with new coach Claudio Pistolesi after parting ways with long-time aide Magnus Norman. The 26-year-old Swede will be making his second appearance at the Brisbane International, having reached the quarterfinal in 2009.

Soderling completed 2010 with two titles, including his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown in Paris. He performed well on clay once again, with a second consecutive championship match berth scored at the French Open (lost to Nadal).

The Swede leads a talent-flush field this week, alongside fellow seeds Andy Roddick, Fernando Verdasco, Mardy Fish, Marcos Baghdatis, Feliciano Lopez, Florian Mayer and Denis Istomin.

Soderling is located in the same half of the draw as (4) Fish, (7) Mayer and (8) Istomin. After a first-round battle with a qualifier, the World No. 5 looks to meet either Michael Berrer or Dudi Sela. The closest seed to Soderling is Istomin, who looms as a likely opponent in the quarterfinal.

Defending champion Andy Roddick headlines a competitive bottom half, housed in the same section as (3) Verdasco, (5) Baghdatis and (6) Lopez. The World No. 8 may have his first test against the Cypriot in the quarterfinal.

The 28-year-old, who captured the 2010 title in his debut (def. Stepanek), faces hometown wildcard Marinko Matosevic in the opening round.
