Horna announced his retirement from tennis

Peruvian tennis player Luis Horna announced that he will retire from professional tennis after the "Challenger of Lima," which is taking place this coming weekend. Horna was doubles champion at Roland Garros last year.

"I've decided to leave professional tennis after the Challenger of Lima," Horna announced at a press conference, in which he made known his intention to retire from professional tennis.

Horna was away from the game during several months this season due to a series of injuries. Recently he had suggested the possibility of playing for a few more years, but has since changed his mind.

"I don't say no to Davis Cup. I could be in the future in the team," said Horna, when asked about it. He didn't mention if his comeback would be as a player or as collaborator in the national team. The goal of the Peruvian team is to get back to Group 1 of the American Zone.

Horna’s milestones include being part of Peru's team when the nation secured a spot in the Davis Cup World Group for the first time, and capturing the 2008 Roland Garros doubles title with partner Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay.
