Tak, nie ma się czego obawiać. Przecież wiadomo że ich mecze nie gwarantują żadnych emocji, a król Roger wygra 3-0 w 90 min.

Widzę, zeszłoroczny mecz wiele nie zmienił, a Rod jest po prostu kolejnym kelnerem, którego bać się nie trzeba.

Ale tak nie będzie, gwarantuje !

A co miał ten mecz zmienić? Nagle gra Feda zacznie Rodowi pasować idealnie? Rok temu Rogera ratował tylko serwis, z głębi kortu pykał maryjowe baloniki, a i tak wygrał, więc  to chyba logiczne, że uważam, że jeśli zagra na wysokim poziomie to wygra.
Uważam, że jeśli Federer zagra bardzo dobrze na trawie, to jest zdecydowany faworytem w każdym pojedynku, z wyjątkiem meczu z Nadalem, gdzie nie zagra bardzo dobrze, tylko będzie przy ważnych piłkach ostrzeliwać środek siatki.
Czy naprawdę muszę czynić zastrzeżenie, że jeśli Fed zagra na poziomie jaki prezentuje od AO, a Rod jak rok temu w finale, to Andy wygra i to łatwiej niż większość sobie wyobraża? Dla mnie to oczywiste.  Tak jak oczywiste dla mnie jest, że jeśli Federer zagra bardzo dobrze, to Roddicka pokona i nie widzę w tej tezie nic obraźliwego dla Roda i jego fanów.

Ale tu chodzi o wyrównanie rekordu pod względem zdobytych tytułów na Wimblu.

A, w takim razie tak: Roger gra o 7 tytuł na Wimbledonie, czyli o wyrównanie osiągnięcia Pete'a Samprasa.

Champions Predict Wimbledon 2010 Winners

The third Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year is upon us, and many of the stars of the ATP Champions Tour will be at Wimbledon on commentary duty. Ahead of the event, four of the champions have given us their predictions, and a couple of common themes have emerged.
Yevgeny Kafelnikov is a former World No.1, Thomas Enqvist a Grand Slam finalist, and Wayne Ferreira and Guy Forget were both dangerous on grass. All will be taking a keen interest in Wimbledon before re-starting their ATP Champions Tour campaigns in Graz, Austria and Algarve, Portugal.

Thomas Enqvist
Men: Roger Federer.
He's definitely the best grass court player out there and I think he will do it again.
Women: One of the Williams sisters.
They also have always played well on the grass and I think they will do the same this year.

Guy Forget
Men: Roger Federer.
I think he still wants to win and wants to play. He's the best technical player and he's got the best record on grass. He probably wants this title as much as anybody else.
Women: Venus Williams. She has been really consistent on grass these last few years and moving a bit better than her sister. I think she can do it again.

Wayne Ferreira
Men: Roger Federer.
As an outsider I'm going to take Andy Murray just because I think he may have a slight chance
Women: One of the Williams sisters.
If the draw works, I would say that both of them will be in the finals. I don't know which one to win though.

Day One Preview

Welcome to the 124th Championships, a guaranteed vuvuzela-free zone. Not that anyone could begrudge The All England Club a modest tootle on the bugle for once again presenting us with a pristine setting for the world's finest tennis tournament, the ever-ongoing improvement works (in this case the new Court Three) hidden behind the geraniums and other floral delights as we gear up for Day One and its traditions.

The biggest of these, as ever, is the appearance of the resident men's champion to open proceedings on Centre Court. No surprise here that Roger Federer is that champion, the first once again to test the turf's qualities as he embarks in pursuit of what would be a record-equaling seventh title.

Only two men have previously clocked up seven Wimbledons. Pete Sampras did it, blitzing the opposition in the final decade of the 20th century. So did William Renshaw, more than a century earlier. When William was putting the opposition to the sword back then, only one flourish of the claymore was required, since the defending champion did not need to show his face at the tournament until the rest of the field had sorted out who would face him in the final. Time for a peaceful bit of fishing or hill walking first, perhaps, and then the small matter (for Renshaw at any rate) of strolling away with the trophy.

Roger Federer v Alejandro Falla

No such rest and recreation opportunities for Federer, however. He opened the 2010 season on a triumphant note by winning his 16th Grand Slam at the Australian Open and though he has not been in the winner's circle since, his commitment so far has only extended to eight other tournaments this season. But this, for Roger, is the one he is after, as ever. The seventh Wimbledon and his 17th major.

The fate of the draw can be particularly cruel on the unfortunate fellow whose name comes out of the bag opposite that of the champion. In this case, sympathy cards and messages of consolation should be forwarded to Colombia's left-handed Alejandro Falla, whose task it will be today to impersonate cannon fodder. Only twice has that fodder exploded in the title holder's face on the opening day, first in 1967 when Manuel Santana was overturned by Charlie Pasarell and then, more recently, in 2003 as Lleyton Hewitt lost sight of the towering Ivo Karlovic's mammoth serve in low cloud.

There is one consolation for Falla. He is unlikely to suffer too much jangling of nerves, since he has been on Centre Court previously. Against Federer, as a matter of fact. They met in the second round of the 2004 Championships and Roger conceded a piffling three games. Alejandro's luck has not shown a marked improvement in their three meetings since then, either, with not a set to show for the expenditure of much sweat. In his Latin-American Spanish, Alejandro's surname is pronounced "fire" but its true meaning in that language is "fault". Perhaps no more need be said on the subject.

Novak Djokovic v Olivier Rochus

There is an early trot on Centre, too, for the third seed, Novak Djokovic, a consistent if not yet ultimately successful grass court performer who has been once a semi-finalist and once a quarter-finalist here. Winner of one Grand Slam (the 2008 Australian Open), Novak has bagged one title this year in Dubai in February but will approach this one with understandable caution, despite the Belgian opposition coming from someone who is 66 in the rankings and stands five feet six inches.

Olivier, the younger of two touring professional brothers (Christophe is the other) admirably fits that American description "feisty" and the Serb's power and reputation have not fazed him one little bit so far in their rivalry. Rochus has come out on top in three of their four clashes, the most recent in Miami a couple of months back, but their lone match on grass, in Halle a year ago, went the way of Novak in straight sets.

Jelena Jankovic v Laura Robson
A tasty filling for these two Centre Court men's matches sees Britain's 16-year-old Laura Robson, appearing by courtesy of a wild card, test her fast-rising talents against a former world number one, Jelena Jankovic who, like Djokovic, hails from Serbia. Jankovic's best claim to Wimbledon fame remains her third round upset of defending champion Venus Williams in 2006 but she has had a decent season in 2010 to date, winning the 13th title of her career in Indian Wells in the spring, then beating both Williams sisters in Rome before surprisingly losing in the final to the Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and then posting a semi-final at Roland Garros. Clearly, for Robson this will form part of her learning curve. She may be overcome but will definitely not be daunted.

Venus Williams, Roddick and Davydenko on No.1 Court
The aforementioned Venus, proud possessor of five Wimbledon Championships, opens the hunt for her sixth on Court One against the pride of Paraguay, the 34-year-old Rossana de los Rios. Paraguay is more noted for producing footballers, to one of whom, Gustavo Neffa, she is married. Rossana, the third-oldest competitor in the women's singles this year, has faced Venus once previously, at the 2008 US Open, and salvaged just three games.

Other big names on the Court One schedule today are Andy Roddick, the fifth men's seed and probably still smarting from his 16-14 fifth-set loss in the 2009 final, and Nikolay Davydenko, seeded seventh. Davydenko, who caused a sensation by winning the Barclays ATP Tour World Finals in London last winter but has subsequently spent the major part of this season hobbled by injury, tackles South Africa's Kevin Anderson, while Roddick's opposition comes from a fellow-American, Rajeev Ram.

Clijsters, Henin and Schiavone also in action on Day 1
The two Belgians, Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin, who are making comebacks on the tour with notable success, will strut their stuff on the lesser show courts. Clijsters, already a Grand Slam champion since that return to the courts (at the 2009 US Open) opens the Court Two programme against Italy's Maria Elena Camerin, where another and markedly more famous Italian lady, Francesca Schiavone, will also be appearing today. Schiavone became the first female from her country to land a Grand Slam title at Roland Garros earlier this month and is still bubbling over the thrill of it all. Henin, twice a Wimbledon finalist (2001 and 2006) should expect a comfortable return to The Championships against Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova.
