Sytuacja podobna jak przed finałem AO i po chłodnej analizie, na podobny rezultat liczę. Niestety, historia pojedynków tych dwóch graczy pokazuje, że Federer uwielbia liftować i grać pasywnie przeciwko Murray'owi, doczekując się w końcu dość agresywnych bh po krosie, które często kończą wymianę lub ustawiają ją na korzyść TNO.
W dodatku serwis w tym turnieju nie wydaje się być mocną stroną Feda, co znacząco komplikuje sprawę.

Andy Murray ready for Shanghai Masters final showdown with Roger Federer

Offering pre-tournament predictions about how Andy Murray would strike the ball at this week's Shanghai Masters was as risky as European visitors ordering 'blind' from the Mandarin at one of the city's backstreet restaurants: anything could have been brought to the court and to the table.

This has been nothing less than a mad, chaotic, higgledy-piggledy season for Murray, with his tennis veering from the brilliant to the ordinary, from the awful to the magnificent, and when the draw was made few would have said with any conviction that the Scot would end up reaching the final on the outskirts of Shanghai, to play Roger Federer for the trophy.

For much of the year, it has seemed as though Murray has either been playing himself into form or playing himself out of form. So far this week, it so happens there has been a gathering poise and a purpose to Murray's tennis, and he has won all four of his matches, including his 6-4, 6-1 victory in his semi-final against Argentina's Juan Monaco, without dropping a set.

For Murray's sake, it is to be hoped that he can keep this going in China, and then when he returns to Europe for the 'regular-season' tournaments in Valencia and Paris, as well as for the season-ending event in London which is restricted to the world's eight best players. Who would be surprised if Murray were to defeat Federer today, bomb in Spain and France, and then finish the year by holding up a trophy on the Greenwich Peninsula? Or perhaps he will lose today, win in Valencia and Paris, and play poorly in London?

Make a firm prediction about Murray in 2010, and you are likely to get burned.

Murray's year has so far included an appearance in a grand slam final at the Australian Open, an admission of his disenchantment with the sport, being whistled off court by Monte Carlo's lunching billionaires, playing in a Wimbledon semi-final before sacking his coach, turning in superb performances to defeat Rafael Nadal and Federer in Toronto for what was his only title of the year, only to then lose to Stanislas Wawrinka in the third round of the US Open for what his earliest defeat at the majors for a couple of years.

And then in Beijing, the week before Shanghai, he was suffering from headaches when he lost in the quarter-finals, so Murray's 'form guide' was about as useful for visitors to Shanghai this week as menus in Mandarin.

There is one rally that Monaco could end up replaying again and again in his head, after what was his first appearance in the semi-finals of a Masters tournament, and it is the one in the tenth game of the opening set when he was 15-0 up on his serve and he failed to put away an easy smash.

One of Murray's strings had popped, yet he somehow won that point, and he ended up breaking Monaco to go a set up. It no longer mattered that, just a couple of minutes earlier, Murray had failed in his attempt to serve out the set after throwing in a double-fault at breakpoint down. It seemed as though Monaco never really got over that flunked overhead.

It should be noted that Federer will be Murray's first top-10 opponent of the week. It will be Murray's first meeting with Federer since Toronto, when the Briton achieved his seventh victory from their 12 matches.

Murray is not the only one who has had a turbulent year. It is not as if Federer has had the easiest of seasons since that January evening at Melbourne Park, when he won his sixteenth grand slam title and Murray cried into his runner-up's cheque.

Indeed, Federer lost in the quarter-finals of the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships, and was beaten in the semi-finals of the US Open after holding a couple of match points against Novak Djokovic.

Federer, playing his first tournament since that defeat to Djokovic in New York, deserved his 7-5, 6-4 victory over the Serbian. They were not only playing for a place in the final. By beating Djokovic, Federer will move above him in the world rankings from third to second.

Ehh, typowe w meczach z Murrayem. Wydawało mi się, że jednak to AO naprawiło głowę Szwajcara przynajmniej w pojedynkach ze Szkotem.
